Ultimate Questions

Have you ever asked yourself: What is the meaning of life? Is there a purpose for existence? Why are there so many churches and religions? Why am I am still unhappy after accomplishing so much? Why am I anxious, depressed, angry, bitter, and fearful? Why is there so much hunger, sickness, hypocrisy injustice, upheaval, disaster, and tragedy in the world? Why do good people suffer and bad people prosper?

These questions mostly go unanswered causing great confusion and perplexity in many. In response most people just push through the stoicism and live quiet lives of despair and desperation. Some resort to materialism, relationships and money to fill the void and provide peace from their restless inquiries and burdened consciences. Still unfulfilled many press on in life expecting that alcohol, drugs or entertainment will mask their grief and suppress life's questions that beg for answers. To the person already burdened there is added economic uncertainty, terrorism, political anarchy, moral decay, social unrest, narcissism, broken relationships, and unfulfilled dreams. After all of this one is left in a cloud of grief. While life's questions remain unanswered hope gives way to despair. Everywhere you turn is a dead end. Inwardly there is confusion and doubt, outwardly turmoil and insecurity.

However, the true seeker doesn't give up, but looks diligently for answers. He is not dissuaded by personal frustrations or by the people that have let him down. He believes there is absolute truth and that all his questions will be answered when he finds it. So he begins looking for it.

He finds a Bible and begins reading. Suddenly, one by one, the answers come. His happiness and satisfaction in discovering the truth is indescribable and life changing. Though the world is crumbling under his feet, he is at peace, he is comforted, he is content and secure. Fear is replaced with freedom, bitterness with love, and uncertainty with hope. Darkness and gloom turn to light and joy. This is no dream, it is reality.

Through God's word, the Bible, life's questions are answered. Do you have similar questions? The answers have been in the Bible all this time: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). “Come to Me all, all you who are weak and heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matt. 11:28-30). “...that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Rom. 10:9-13). - Pastor Joe Jacowitz of Christ Bible Church
